The roots of Circa" started in 1981  starting with reconstruction of a 1760 period saltbox in Dudley, MA. The house had been dismantled in Charlton, MA and stored in buildings and under tarps.  In the beginning the restoration used all free time, nights, week-ends, vacations and ultimately evolved into full-time employment in the old house field.

Living in the past became a necessity as well as a luxury.  In 2000 the business took the new name Circa 1700, Inc.  Since 1981 some 40 homes and barns have been created and resurrected with the "Lanpher" brand.

Restoration of New England Structures is important to our heritage, but faithful reproductions of the past are equally important today to create an interesting and ambient world.
